December Favourites

This months favourites is made up of products that are fairly new to me, but also include a trusty favourite of mine! Again, I've also included some non makeup/beauty related things swell, however this monthly favourites is quite small as there just wasn't an awful lot of products that really stood out to me.

The Body Shop Instablur Primer - I only bought this primer about a month a go, and I have really been loving it! I've never really found a primer that I 'loved' but this one has just done it for me as it doesn't leave your face feeling greasy or oily and really helps to keep makeup in place for most of the day.

Mac Blot Powder - I have had this for quite a while now and have been finding it hard to find an alternative powder as I love this so much. I have quite an oily t zone area as well as around other places on the face, and this blot powder illuminates oiliness on the skin throughout the day. I did do a review on this quite a while ago now but I go into a lot more detail on how great this product is (you can read it here!)

Sleek Blush by 3 Palette - I have two of these palettes and use them often, but the one that I have been using most is 'Californ.i.a' which contains three cream blushes, unlike the other palette that I have from Sleek which is made up of two powders, and 1 cream blush. I have really been enjoying wearing these on days when I want to go for more of a natural look, or when I can't really be bothered applying  lots of makeup as these blushes are all so creamy and easy to apply!

What I've been watching:

Clueless - This is one of my favourite movies ever! I love Cher's style, her house, the way she always says 'uh, as if!'! Basically I just LOVE this film!!

My Everyday Winter Makeup Routine

My everyday makeup look for the winter is pretty similar to that in the summer, however I do change up a few products and go for a slightly more dewy look. Just a quick warning that this is a pretty text heavy post and I'm sure that I've forgotten to mention something that I use! Anyway, onto the makeup.

Base -  To begin, I apply a a thin layer of The Body Shop's 'Instablur Primer' using my fingers then leave it to set for a minute or so. I then apply the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealor to any blemishes, usually using my fingers, but sometimes using one of my concealor brushes that I purchased from Ebay (You can find a post on them here!), which were surprisingly really good quality and cost under £3 for a set of four!!. I have a few foundation favourites but the one that I've been using the most at the moment is the Revlon Colour Stay foundation in the shade 'natural beige'. I love the fact that this foundation is available in two slightly different formulas depending on your skin type as a lot of foundations only work for certain skin types meaning that you can sometimes feel limited on finding foundations that will work for you and your skin. I apply my foundation with a Real Techniques 'Buffing Brush' which I swear by and just like the other Real Technique brushes is very multi-purpose. Next I conceal under the eyes using the Soap and Glory 'Blur and Brighten' Concealor, using yet another Real Techniques 'Pointed Foundation Brush' and then set my foundation and concealor with Mac's 'Blot Powder'.

Blush, Bronze and Highlight - Next up is bronzing, I use The Body Shop Honey Bronze Bronzer, which gives a very subtle bronze that is great for this time of year and also for people with pale skin, and apply it using The Real Technique Blush Brush. I use the highlighter from the Sleek Contour Kit and dust over the high points of my cheek and slightly down my nose and cupids bow. I then reach for either my trusty favourite blush which is the Mac Mineralise Blush in 'Dainty' and that I use all year round, or for one of the cream blushes from the Sleek Palette 'Californ.i.a'.

Eyes and Brows - I have been using my Urban Decay Naked 3 palette non-stop since I bought it so obviously had to mention it! I love the brush that comes with it so usually use that, otherwise I use some brushes from the Real Techniques Starter Set. I usually just grab whatever mascara comes to hand but at the moment I'm loving using the Maybelline The Colossal Volume Express Mascara after curling my lashes slightly. For my brows, I use the same product every day without fail and thats the Mac Eyeshadow in 'Omega' along with my Mac 266 brush.

Asos Wishlist

Here is my very monochromatic Asos wish list, but honestly that's nothing unusual for me! I just opened my emails to find that Asos were doing a 20% off so obviously had to order some bits. Here are a few of my favourite pieces!!

Christmas Gift Guide: Even More Beauty

I know that I've already made a Christmas gift guide but I realised afterwards that there were a few brands/products that I really love and that I didn't include in my first one. I've tried to think of things that won't necessarily be included in a lot of gift guides and that are from a range of prices, this time fem £8 - £45!

5. Real Techniques Nic's Picks £20 (reduced from £29.99!)

Tips: Gift Wrap Ideas

I am so so so excited for Christmas this year and have to admit that I've already started to wrap my presents for people! This year I've decided to do things differently as I usually just buy any old wrapping paper, but this year I've decided to put a bit more effort in and thought I'd give you some tips to make your presents look even more lovely! This year I've decided to use the same wrapping paper for everyone, so that's the same for girls and boys. I usually use a slightly different wrapping paper for both but this time I have chosen this brown paper gift wrap as it works well for both and can be jazzed up a bit using things like bows or ribbons.

1. Brown Paper - Like I said above, using a paper like this means that I can use the same paper for everyone and use other things to decorate.

2. Ribbon - I've chosen this white fabric ribbon but any type of ribbon can make a present look really great! You can tie it around the present as you normally would, or like me, cut strips of the ribbon and attach it across the box.

3. Bows - Bows are a classic way to make your presents look even better, and there are so many different types that you can buy. Again I have gone for the white fabric bow which matches the ribbon, which I really like, but you could add one in red or green to add a pop of colour if you wanted.

4. Washi Tape - I'm still waiting on my wash tape to arrive, hence why I haven't got any on the presents yet, but if you haven't already heard of wash tape (which i'm sure most people have) it's basically a patterned tape used for arts and crafts and you can pick it up on ebay for about £1 a role. I've ordered two which are both red, one is polka dot and one is a red and white grid pattern.

What I'm Watching: Tv Shows

I'm always looking for a new tv series to watch and get through them so quickly, so today's post is a little different to my usual kind of thing. I don't think I'd be able to function without Netflix or some kind of subscription to unlimited movies and tv shows!  This post is soley based on tv shows, but I may do a similar post on movies some time soon.

1. Lost - I've been watching this for the past month or so and am currently just starting season 5, so not long left and I'm completely obsessed! I love the constant twists and turns and that I never really know whats coming next, it's definitely worth a watch.

2. The Vampire Diaries - I've been watching this for a few years now and still love it! Part of the reason I started watching Lost was because Ian Somerholder who plays Damon in TVD was in it! The books are great but I have to admit that for this one I prefer the tv show.

3. Made In Chelsea - I love this purely because I love being nosey and seeing what everyone on the show is getting up to! There's always some kind of drama going on and your guaranteed some kind of argument each episode.

The Body Shop Haul (Part 1) + First Impressions

The Body Shop isn't a place that I've ever really bought from before, I have bought the odd piece here and there (I did buy a blusher a while back which I did a review on here!) but this month I just couldn't help myself. There were a few makeup items that I've had my eye on for a while now and when I found a code for 50% off after searching the internet I felt compelled to place an order. And yes that's 50% off and when you spend only £5, how amazing is this offer?! Here's a link to it for anyone else who can't resist a good bargain, I'm not sue how long this will be available for though.

Anyway, back to the products. First up is 'Instablur', an all in one five action perfecter, according to the tube. I heard about this through Gabby from 'VelvetGh0st', who has mentioned this product countless times as her favourite primer, so of course, I had to give it a try! I haven't used this yet but from a little squeeze of this on the back of my hand, I can see that it is a clear primer so would work for people of all skin tones. i'm really looking forward to trying this as I've never found a primer that I've really loved! Don't get me wrong, I like the Maybelline Baby Skin primer which I use most days, but I just don't love it.

The next product is one that I've wanted to try for a while now as I'm still quite new to the whole bronzing thing as I always thought that I was too pale for it! Haha. The Body Shop Honey Bronze Bronzing Powder has featured in quite a few Youtube videos and blog reviews that I've seen lately and chose the shade based on other peoples skin tones compared to mine, risky I know but this is what I get for ordering online! This looks like it'll give off such a subtle bronze to the skin which is really good for this time of year.

This Tea Tree Body Wash is said to work to remove impurities and make skin look clearer which I'm definitely all for! I usually love the smell of tea tree but this particular tea tree product smells a little weird to me and I don't what it is that makes me think that, but that doesn't bother me too much as hopefully it will do what it says on the bottle! Another product from their tea tree range is the Blemish Fade Night Lotion which again is supposed to get rid of spots and from some of the reviews seems to help to fade acne scars.

I have ordered a few other bits and pieces but they haven't arrived yet so will have to do this haul in two parts!

Tips: Winter Beauty

Today I'm here with a few beauty tips more tailored to winter, but that you could use all year runs if you wanted to. I love the winter time, the nights get darker and colder and I find that my house feels a lot more cosy, with blankets found scattered around the rooms. I love wrapping up warm with hats and scarfs, but I also make slight changes to my beauty routine.

1. Exfoliate the lips - I love the Lush Lip Scrub in 'bubblegum' as it just tastes so so good, but you can very easily and inexpensively make your own lip scrub using a bit of sugar and water. Also, if I don't have an exfoliator to hand I like to use the edge of a towel and rub it on my lips to remove the dry/chapped skin. Then to keep my lips looking smooth I like to apply a lip balm.

2. Moisturise - I moisturise whatever time of year it is, but even more so in the winter. My skin tends to dry up a lot more, especially on and around my cheek area so I like to use a slightly heavier moisturiser, one that does the job to get rid of the dryness of my cheeks, but not so much as to make my skin oily. I also like to use a body moisturiser to keep the rest of my body looking and feeling silky smooth.

3. Carry a hand cream with you - I can always be found with a hand cream on me, countless times people have asked to borrow it as they know that I'll always have it. I prefer to keep the smaller versions or travel sizes of products with me, as they fit much better in my bags (although my bags are always huge!!). I love the Soap and Glory Hand Food as it just smells so lovely and keeps my hands hydrated throughout the day. My hands get very dry in the winter so I like to reapply throughout the day, after washing my hands or even just if my hands feel like they need a bit more.

The Christmas Tag

As it's almost Christmas I though it would be a good idea to do the Christmas Tag as I love reading tags! I am so excited for Christmas, which I think I say in almost every post at the moment but I just love this time of year. I haven't done a tag post before but I decided to give it a go, and want to tag anyone else who fancies giving it a go!!

Photo from Pinterest

1. What is your favourite Christmas Movie/s?

There are so many Christmas movies that I love, and to narrow it down to just one is tricky! However, I do love Elf, its a classic and even after the amount of times that I've watched it, it still doesn't fail to make me laugh. A few of my other rated Christmas movies are Miracle on 34th Street, White Christmas and Unaccompanied Minors!

2. Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?

Definitely on Christmas morning, I don't actually think that I know anyone who opens them on Christmas Eve.

3. Do you have a favourite Christmas memory?

I have so many but I'm sure this one will be pretty special as it's my younger sisters first Christmas!

4. Favourite festive food?

I think I have to go with a chocolate log as i cannot stand mince pies! Also, until about a week ago I thought there was mince meat in them, am I the only one?! Haha

5. Favourite Christmas gift?

Either my iPad or my speakers as they were huge surprises and I definitely wasn't executing them!

6. Favourite Christmas scent?

I'm not a high fan of Christmas scents as they usually contain cinnamon which I really don't like, so I tend to stay away from Christmas scented candles and prefer sweeter scents.

7. Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?

My family usually get together in our pyjamas and watch Christmas films.

8. What tops your tree?

We seem to change it up each year so it'll either be a star or an angel and this year we are really late putting up our Christmas decorations so I'm not sure what it'll be this year yet!

9. As a kid what was the one (crazy, wild, extravagant) gift you always asked for but never received?

I'm sure it was something really silly like a horse or something, but I do remember asking my mum for a smart board (like the ones you have in school, did anyone else have these?!).

10. What's the best part about Christmas for you?

My favourite thing about Christmas is definitely spending time with the family, I just love how Christmas brings everyone together and we all have the best time! Also, I'd be lying if I said that I didn't love the presents and also seeing everyone else's faces when they open theirs.

Christmas Gift Guide: Beauty

Christmas gift guides are definitely not hard to come by at this time of year, and I've seen so many of them and have so many great ideas for Christmas presents this year. Here are eight gifts that I would consider giving to friends and family, and which cost from just £10 up to £45, so there hopefully is something for everyone. Let me know what the gift that you are most looking forward to giving to someone for Christmas is in the comments!

Review: Sleek Blush 'By 3' Blush Palette in 'Californ.i.a'

I have already written a review on another of Sleeks 'By 3' palettes (which you can find here!) and like that one, loved 'Californ.i.a'. This was £9.99 from Superdrug which is absolutely amazing when you consider how much one blush costs from a more high end brand and even some high street brands!. Although this isn't a high end blush palette, the quality is still very good for the amount of money that you are paying. This palette unlike 'Pink Lemonade', has three cream blushes, which are all really smooth and blendable! I really like cream blushes as they give a much more dewy and natural flush to the cheeks which is great for days when you don't want too apply much makeup. As always from Sleek, the packaging is very simple and their usual black plastic compact and inside, has a reasonable sized mirror which can be really handy.  I was a little surprised at the size of the palate as it was slightly smaller than I'd thought it would have been, but for the price you do get a lot of product so I shouldn't complain!

The first shade, Newport Peach, is a slightly more orange toned coral shade. It, like all of the shades, is very creamy and blends really well and gives a very natural glow to the cheeks.

The next shade is The Surf which is a very light peach shade that has an ever so slight shimmer to it. This is way to light too light for me to wear as a blusher but it can work as a highlight shade for the cheeks when applied lightly.

The shade OC is a lot more pink toned that the others and is probably my favourite of the three. As my most worn shade from the palette, I dot this on my cheek and blend using my Real Techniques expert face brush.

The quality of these cream blushes, for the very affordable price that they are, is so great! They have a strong pigmentation and are so easy to use and incorporate into your everyday makeup routine. I also love the fact the packaging is so compact as it makes it much better for fitting in your makeup bag and would be great to take with you when traveling, rather than taking a few separate blush shades.

November Favourites: Beauty, Bloggers & Tv Shows

There aren't an awful lot of products that I've been loving at the moment but the products that I have been enjoying using, I've really loved! As there weren't a lot of products that really stood out to me this month, I've decided to add some tv shows and Youtubers/bloggers that I've been also loving this month!

Soap and Glory Blur & Brighten Crayon in 'Light' - I've had this for a few months now and have been using every single day. It works so well for me under the eyes as it doesn't crease and really does work to brighten the eyes and making them look a lot more glowy and fresh.

Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette - I bought this earlier this month and even though I haven't had it for a very long time I have been using it almost every day! The shades work so well with my skin tone and I love that there is an endless amount of looks that you can create with it. (You can see my first impression's post on it here!)

Maybelline The Colossal Volume Express Mascara - I've been on the hunt for a mascara that works to give both length and volume to my very sparse lashes without it making me look as if I have spider legs as lashes and found this one that works really well for me and lasts throughout the day. Also, I picked this up for only £5 as it was on offer in Asda at the time.

Lily Melrose - I love both Lily's blog and youtube and have been reading/watching for a while now and am still obsessed with her! I love her edgy style as it's a bit different to a lot of bloggers and love how she mixes things up a bit with her makeup.

Essiebutton -  I used to be subscribed to Estee's channel and somewhere along the way managed to unsubscribe and have recently resubscribed and cannot get enough! She has such a good sense of humour which I love as some Youtubers take more of a serious tone to their videos, which don't get me wrong I like but I just love the light hearted feel in her videos.

Tv Shows:

Lost - I am absolutely obsessed with this programme and after just a month of watching am just starting series six! i love the fact that each episode has a twist to it so you can never really be sure what is going to happen next. This is definitely worth a watch if you haven't already watched it!!

New In + First Impressions: Urban Decay 'Naked 3' Palette

Finally! I have finally given in and bought the Urban Decay 'Naked 3' palette and I am so excited about it. I kept opening the box on the way home to look at how pretty the shades are and just can't stop admiring how amazing the palette is. This is the perfect palette for me as the shades all go so well with my skin tone and can be used both day and night. I know that I am extremely late on the band wagon with this product but I could just never justify paying this much for a palette when there are so many affordable drugstore eyeshadow palettes from brands such as Mua or Makeup Revolution, which are just £4! Of course these palettes are not going to be as good quality as the Urban Decay palette but for people on a budget, or those who just don't want to pay £37 for eyeshadow, these are really good alternatives.

First off, I am in love with the packaging, I think it's the best out of the three palettes so far. I love the fact that it's in a tin as it feels really sturdy and I love the rose gold colouring. It also comes with a brush that surprisingly is actually usable. I usually just throw the brushes that come in sets in the bin straight away but this one actually looks and feels like it could be used.

I haven't actually gotten around to using this yet but have swatched them on the back of my hands and already have a few favourites that I know I'll constantly be reaching for. I love the look of 'dust' and 'buzz' which are lovely glitter shades and also 'burnout' and 'limit' which are mrs neutral shades.

All in all, I can't wait to use this properly and am so excited about it after finally getting my hans on it after lusting over it for so long!
