March Favourites

This month I've been really into using products that I already have in my collection, rather than buying new, so have been rediscovering some of the products that I used to really love and that I may have forgotten about. I've also been really into Spring time makeup so have been loving pale pinks and a good old highlighter! What has been your favourite thing this month?

Maybelline Fit Me Concealor - This has become one of my holy grail products from the drugstore. This is the most creamy concealor that I have tried and works to cover, and brighten, any dark circles under the eyes. An added bonus is that this only costs £5.99, such a bargain!

Sleek Blush by 3 palette in 'Pink Lemonade' - This is one of those products that I've had for months, but just haven't gotten enough use out of, until this month anyway! I've been using one of the shades from the palette most days, especially 'Icing Sugar' which is my perfect blush to pair with either a contoured or bronzed look.

Topshop Glow - I've had this cream highlighter since around Christmas time and have been using it an awful lot this month. It's the perfect highlighter for Spring, leaving a dewy glow to the cheekbones, which I for one, love!

Tangle Teezer - I recently repurchased this after losing my old one, and have been using it non-stop. I think I'd forgotten how much I loved it.

George Ezra 'Wanted on Voyage' - I've been loving this album for ages now but have had it on play, non-stop this month and it never seems to get old for me. If anyone else likes George Ezra, then please give me some recommendations of other people to listen to on Spotify! :)

Drugstore Wishlist

There are so many great makeup products available at the drugstore and way too many to be able to try them all, so I have wishlist after wishlist of products that I want to try out. As Spring is getting closer, I have been loving everything pink/peach toned and have found a few products that I think it would be perfect for this time of year.

1. MUA Trio Eyeshadow Pink Sorbet, £2.50First off, can you believe this Mua eyeshadow trio is only £2.50?! I've been eyeing this up for a while now as it just looks so pretty. I've tried some of Mua's other eyeshadows before, but never any of their baked ones so am not quite sure what the quality would be like, but for this price I don't think you can go wrong, and is definitely worth a try!

2. Makeup Revolution Radiant Lights Exhale, £6Another product that I've been lusting over for a while now is from Makeup Revolution and is a highlighter that i've seen featured in quite a few reviews lately. I've been meaning to pick  up a new highlighter and this one at only £6 seems very appealing!

3. Sleek Lip 4 Palette Showgirl, £8.99 -This Sleek lip palette has been on my wishlist for such a long time now, and I still haven't gotten around to buying it, but with Spring/Summer on it's way, I feel like now is the perfect time to buy it.

4. Rimmel 60 Seconds Super Shine By Rita Ora 'Peachella',£2.99I spotted these nail polishes whilst doing a little online shopping at Superdrug and noticed that they seem to be a new collection by Rita Ora for Rimmel. The colours in the range are so pretty and I love the little flower detail on the packaging too.

5 Things To Do In Your Spare Time

Todays post is about things to do in your spare time. Whenever I have a day off I don't seem to do anything productive, I just lounge around, which I'm all for every now and again, but lately I've been trying to find things to do so that I'm actually doing something worth while rather than wasting a day. With Easter holidays starting, I thought it would make a good idea for a post.

1. Read a book - This is one i've been doing a lot the past few months. I used to love reading but for reason stopped, however I recently got back into and have been reading non-stop. I've been thinking of doing a book recommendation post, or something along those lines, let me know what you think!

2. Exercise - Go for a run, or pop down to the gym. Either way, just half an hour of exercise can put you in a better mood and will be of benefit to you too! The first few times is always the worst, but when I get into a routine of exercising I always feel so much better about myself.

3. Do your school/college/uni work - It's always better to get any work you have, done and other with rather than leaving it to the last minute, so why not use your spare time to do it?

4. Run errands - Again, why not sort any errands you have whilst you have some extra time, rather than running around at the last minute to get them done.

5. Meet up with an old friend - A good old catch up with someone you haven't seen in a while is always a good way to spend your time. Why not meet at a coffee shop or go for a bite to eat?

Review: Maybelline Fit Me Concealor

This is hands down, the best concealor that I have ever used! I bought, this whilst doing a little shopping last month and have been using it non-stop ever since. I had read some really great reviews on this before buying and had heard that it was a dupe for the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealor, which I was going to buy, but after hearing this was very similar decided to try this one out first. The biggest different between this and the Nars concealor is the price. This is an absolute bargain at £5.99 and has a decent shade range too. I opted for the shade 'light' which is the second lightest in the range and is the perfect for me. The packaging gets the thumbs up from me and is yet another similarity between this and the Nars concealor. This has a dofer applicator (is that right? haha) so is pretty easy to apply too.

I personally only use this to cover dark circles and brighten up the under eye area, but have occasionally used it for covering blemishes too, and it worked pretty well! I create a triangle under the eye and blend in, either using my finger or my Real Techniques Setting Brush, then set with a powder. As I said earlier, I went for the shade 'light' which works really well to add coverage as well as brighten/highlight the face and looks very naturally, yet still doing it's job perfectly! The consistency is so creamy making it very comfortable to apply and wear, and considering this, I was so surprised at how long this lasts throughout the day. When added a bit of powder to set, this lasts throughout the whole of the day for me which is amazing considering that it's from the Drugstore and is only £5.99! Such a bargain, and definitely worth picking up if you haven't already.

Monday, 23 March 2015

It's Monday, the first day of the week and usually when I'm the least motivated so I thought I'd do a post including some motivational quotes that I absolutely LOVE! Whenever i'm feeling a little down, I pop over to this Pinterest board and have a little read and it always seems to cheer me up and put me in a better mood.

Makeup Starter Kit

I've been ready a lot of these types of posts lately, although I already have a pretty reasonable makeup collection, I still really enjoy ready them. I wish I had read this type of post when I was starting out as I had all sorts of makeup but no idea whether they would work for my skin or how to apply them! I know not all of these are essential when starting out but I wanted to include something for everyone and so you can pick and chose the products that you feel are best for you!

Revlon Colorstay Foundation - This is a great foundation for all skin types as it comes in two different formulas, one for oily-combination skin and the other for normal-dry skin. This is my go to foundation as it gives great coverage and can be built up if needed, this lasts all day so theres no need for a primer and is very affordable at £12.49.

Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream - Honestly, I'm not one for BB creams as I need the extra coverage that foundation gives, but of course not everyone does. I haven't actually used this particular one but i've read some very good reviews on it and know someone who uses and loves this. This is another affordable base at £7.99

Loreal True Match Foundation - At first I wasn't the biggest fan of this foundation, I guess I just want't used to such a light weight foundation but I have to admit that it's growing on me. I think it would be great for anyone starting out too, and is only £9.99!

Mac Studio Fix Fluid - If you would prefer to splurge a little on your foundation then the one that I recommend, for combination/oily skin in particular, is Mac's Studio Fix. It gives a matte finish and is long lasting however is a bit pricier at £21.50.

Bourjois Healthy Balance - This is my all time favourite powder and a new discovery of mine. This is perfect for setting foundation/concealor giving a slight matte finish yet still looking healthy and glowing. You can pick this up from Boots and is £8.99.

Rimmel Stay Matte - A powder that I know longer use due to it being too matte for my skin, but which would be great for those on the oiler side, is this one by Rimmel. There is a good shade range but for those unsure of what shade to pick up I'd go for a transparent one which you can't really go wrong with. This one is even cheaper than the Bourjois powder and is only £3.99.

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealor - This is that drugstore concealor that's had an awful lot of hype in the blogging community and it is honestly worth it! This is a very high coverage concealor so it great for anyone with acne prone skin although wouldn't recommend this for under the eyes as I find it a bit too thick for that. An added bonus is that this costs under five pound at £4.19.

Maybelline Fit Me Concealor - This is a great all round concealor but especially for under the eyes. This is super creamy and a great dupe for the Nars concealor that everyone seems to love and is way cheaper at £5.99.

Sleek Blush By 3 Palette - These palettes are so affordable at £9.99 for three blushes and there is usually at least one cream blush in these palettes. My particular favourites are Pink Lemonade, which includes two powder and one cream blush, and Californ.i.a, which is an all cream blush palette which is super bendable and easy to use.

Body Shop Honey Bronzer - This is the perfect bronzer for those fairer girls especially, but also beginners as it is so light and easy to build up. This is £13 so is slightly pricey but is definitely worth it!

Sleek Contour Kit - Of course, contouring isn't essential, especially when starting out but I though I'd include this as it's great for beginners. This kit includes both a contour and highlight shade and is very affordable at £6.49 and comes in three shades, light, medium and dark.

Mua Eyeshadow Palettes - Again, this isn't an essential step to everyones makeup routine but if you are looking to start out working with eyeshadows then MUA is a great place to start as most of their palettes come in at only £4 which is a complete bargain when your getting 12 shades which are a very good quality considering the price.

Makeup Revolution Eyeshadow Palettes - Similarly to Mua eyeshadow palettes, these palettes are £4 for 12 shadows and are very good quality. They are super bendable and have some really good dupes for the Naked Palettes too!

Maybelline Colour Tattoos - These work great as bases for eyeshadow or even just on their own. They are very similar to the Mac Paint pot's which are much more expensive considering these are only £4.99.

Soap and Glory Thick and Fast Mascara - Mascara is that product which you have to really experiment and try out a few before finding the right one for you but I really like this one from Soap and Glory which is £10, and gives a really great amount of volume.

Maybelline The Colossal Lash Mascara - This is another voluminsing mascara that works great for me and is only £7.19.

Inspiration: Home Decor

If any of you follow me on Pinterest, you'll have seen that I've been going a little crazy lately pinning photo after photo of anything 'home decor' inspired. I love the idea of having my own home, and getting to decorate it just the way I want, in the future and have been lusting over so many of the ideas that i've came across on Pinterest. As per usual, I'm loving all things white and have recently gotten back into reading so have been looking for different ways to store my books. I'm always looking for new people to follow on Pinterest so please leave your Pinterest names below and I'll be sure to check them out! :)

Review: Mac Paint Pot in Painterly

I have finally gotten around to purchasing one of Mac's Paint Pot's and decided on this neutral, flesh toned shade, Painterly. I'm sure you've all came across this being raved about by countless bloggers/youtubers and now I completely understand what all of the fuss was about! I picked this up due to wanting a product that would act as a long lasting base for eyeshadows whilst also covering any discolouration on the lids and this is just perfect for that. I picked this up from Debenhams for £15.50 and they also have a range of shades to choose from which is a bonus! However, I know for some this may be a bit pricey but I've recently written a review on the Maybelline Colour Tatoos which are an amazing drugstore alternative.

As with all Mac products the packaging is very sleek and minimal and comes in this glass pot which makes it easy to see the shade inside, great for those who have more than one shade. This particular shade, which you can see from the swatch below, would be great for fair to medium toned skin due to it being a light flesh toned shade. I use my finger to pick up the product, only needing a small amount to do the job, and then pat it onto the lids. I find that patting the product on works best as it reduces creasing which I found to happen more when almost sweeping it onto the lid. As I said, you only need a small amount of this product as a little really does go a long way and I use it to apply all over the lid and even over the crease area. I do have a lot of discolouration on the lids due to my pale skin showing veins and redness a lot around the eye area, and this product works really well to cover it and lasts all day too!

Although this is a little pricey, it's definitely worth paying that bit extra as this product is probably the best cream shadow that I've found so far as it works very well as a base for your eyeshadow, as well as staying put!

February Favourites (Non-Beauty)

This is the time of month were I usually rave about those beauty products that I have been loving, however this month has been less of a focus of makeup and beauty products, but on more lifestyle type things. I have recently gotten back into reading so have had my head in a book most days, but I haven't forgotten my favourite tv shows (which I will be posting about soon!) and movies as well as some great apps, Bloggers and Youtubers!

Pinterest - This month I've been obsessed with Pinterest! It such a good app for those times when your lacking inspiration and once I start pinning I can't seem to stop. If you follow me on Pinterest you'll see that I have a slight, ok, maybe a huge,  obsession with Lily Collins and Alexa Chung this month and have been pinning them non-stop. I have taken a step away from Tumblr and have moved towards Pinterest due to it being a much more organised way to get inspiration, and I'm a sucker for organisation!

The Mortal Instruments Book Series - I have finally gotten around to starting this series and am currently half way through book 4 and just can't get enough. I know I'll be so disappointed when I finish the series and just want to know more so if anyone else has any book recommendations please let me know below!

Lily Melrose - I'm sure that I've featured Lily in one of my other favourites and she still doesn't disappoint  I've been particularly loving her blog this month as she not only posts about all things fashion and beauty, but also writes some really good advice posts too!

Pretty Little Liars - I have always loved this series, but since Netflix has started airing it weekly I have been even more obsessed with it than I already was. Things are starting to get really heated up for the girls and I'm so excited (but kind of scared??) to finally know who 'A' is.

10 Things I Hate About You - This is one of my favourite films and one that I have especially been loving this month. Everyone needs a bit of young Heath Ledger in their lives, don't you think?
